Happy Monday!

5 Reasons Why You Should Watch Man of Steel

English actor Henry Cavill graces us with his  sexy presence as Superman in Man of Steel, which arrived in theaters June 14th. He has also appeared in the films such as  Stardust and Immortals.

Here are my top 5 reasons why you should watch the movie…

Reason 1: That Face!

Reason 2: That Body!

Reason 3: That Suit! The superman suit has definitely got an upgrade and I’m sure all the ladies appreciate it

Reason 4: The Fight Scenes

Reason 5: Did I mention that body?!?

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

My weekend in ATL

This weekend I had the pleasure of going to Atlanta, Georgia for a wedding. If you know me, you know I “LOVE” weddings but this time was a little different. I attended two ceremonies for the same couple. On Saturday they had a traditional Nigerian ceremony and on Sunday was  the american style wedding. Both ceremonies were very romantic. I had a blast! So congrats again to the happy couple Maggie and Chris. Thank you for letting me share in this joyous occasion.

I was wearing lipstick this weekend instead of lip gloss. Which color do you like on me more? Red or Pink

I caught the bouquet so that means I’m next

After a long weekend we decided to explore the city Monday night.

Dinner at Yard House. The waiter was so nice I had to get a picture with him.

Met up with my cousin and fellow blogger Lucy (on the left).

I had a blast in Atlanta and I can’t wait to go back. There’s so much more that I didn’t get to see.

P.S. Pictures of the bride and groom will be posted soon!

Suits: Summer 2013 Edition

Enjoy a quick joke…

A man goes to a tailor to try on a new custom-made suit. The first thing he notices is that the arms are too long.

“No problem,” says the tailor. “Just bend them at the elbow and hold them out in front of you. See, now it’s fine.”

“But the collar is up around my ears!”

“It’s nothing. Just hunch your back up a little… No, a little more… That’s it.”

“But I’m stepping on my cuffs!” the man cries in desperation.

“Now, bend you knees a little to take up the slack. There you go. Look in the mirror–the suit fits perfectly.”

So, twisted like a pretzel, the man lurches out onto the street. Reba and Florence see him go by.

“Oh, look,” says Reba, “that poor man!”

“Yes,” says Florence, “but what a beautiful suit.”

At least one of these looks should be in your wardrobe by the end of summer 2013!

Fashion is all about having fun. Play it up and make it you. Remember the most important thing about a suit or any piece of clothing is the fit. Find a local tailor in your area that will work with your budget, so you can look like you just stepped off a runway.

This is a nice “going out” look minus the belt. I would pair it with something less flashy.

Like this!

This jacket is to die for. I would pair it with a different pair of trousers though.

I’m not really a fan of the double breasted suit, but the one on the left caught my attention.

This is for my men who like to wear vests.

This look is inspired by the new version of “The Great Gatsby”

I call this the ultimate light grey suit. It will never go out of style.

Six Things You Should Know About Fast and the Furious 6

Spoiler Alert!!!!! If you haven’t seen the movie Do Not Read This…but for those of you who have don’t forget to leave a comment I would love to get your thoughts.

1. Paul Walker is still sexy! Since “The Fast and the Furious” was released in 2001 I’ve had the biggest crush on this blond hair blue eyes white boy.

2. Ludacris and Tyrese banter like brothers which gives the movie a comedic angle to go along with all the action.

3. The villain of the movie is sexy too. Luke Evans who plays Owen Shaw got my attention as soon as he stepped in front of the camera. Too bad Vin Diesel had to take him down towards the end.

4. Vin Diesel is a super hero! In the movie his character, Dom, catches Letty, Michelle Rodriguez’s character, mid air and lands on a car. If that’s not a super hero I don’t know what is.

5. London must have the longest plane runways ever. You’ll understand when you see the movie.

6. There will be a #7. There is one last scene after the credits start to roll which involves Jason Statham.

Make sure you do go see the movie. It’s great!

Blind Date: Part 3

Part 3: Finale

Ugh!!!! Traffic is ridiculous at this time. Maybe it’s just me. Ever since Trevor left the library I couldn’t stop staring at the clock. Stressing about what I would wear, do I have the right shoes, and what to do with my hair. Why did I suggest this to be tonight?

I guess my subconscious wanted to get this over with. Maybe he’s a good guy and we’ll start this whirlwind romance or maybe he’s a jerk. Whatever the case, I have three hours to get home, clean up my apartment, and get ready for this dinner tonight.

As I open my apartment door all I could see is chaos. With only two hours and thirty minutes left until eight, I have to at least clean up this living room. While ferociously tossing papers into the trash can and hanging up jackets that should have been put away two months ago, my mind couldn’t help but wonder back to him. Slightly depressed and staring off into the distance. My mind wonders not to overwhelming thoughts of Trevor, but back to Daniel. It has to be at least three months since we broke up, but my heart keeps going back there. Snapping myself back into reality I realize that I stopped cleaning. Staring over at the clock ,I only have two hours left.

Hair done….check.

Makeup…check.                                                                black-woman-dancing1

Only 30 minutes left and I find myself daydreaming again. This time it’s while I’m staring at the mirror. With a 5’7” size 8 frame, I’ve always been desired but never dated the right guy. I snap myself back into reality and begin to massage lotion into my mocha brown skin. My dress hanging on the right side of my mirror, dark blue like the suit he was wearing this afternoon.  As I stand up to slip it on, I look back at the mirror one last time giving myself a little smirk when I hear a knock at the door.

The End

I would love to answer any questions and please leave a comment to tell me what you think. I hope you enjoyed reading this as I did writing it.

Blind Date: Part 2

As I walk into the building I feel a sense of nervousness. I haven’t felt this way since Rebecca, but that was ancient history, not to be revisited on my way to meet another woman. Stacey, our mutual friend, showed me a picture of Anna, but I still wasn’t sure if it was the same woman I see sitting behind the help desk. This is one of the older Libraries in the city. Hardly anyone comes here anymore. It is early afternoon and the sun is shining bright through the windows in the ceiling. She notices me as soon as I walk in, so I have no time to analyze her facial features except for her piecing eyes. When I finally arrive at the desk, we exchanged pleasantries and then I ask for Anna. Her facial expression tells me everything, slightly enthusiastic and excited, but also a little fear.

I’m Anna” she says with a wide beautiful smile that could stop a man like me dead in his tracks.

“My name is Trevor. Stacey said I might find you here. She wanted us to meet and has been talking about you for quite some time now” as I slid my hands into my pockets trying to appear more confident.

“That’s funny ‘cause she’s only mentioned you once, about two weeks ago” she says.

blue suit“Well, I got off early and I remembered that she mentioned where you worked, so I decided to meet you in person and ask you out on a date. Maybe Dinner? I hope I’m not being too forward.”

Thoughts racing through my head, wow I can’t believe what I’m doing. Stacey did tell me where she worked, but was this really a good idea. She must be thinking that I am crazy by ambushing her at her job like this. Maybe I should go. As doubt and fear continued to race through my mind, I heard her say in the sweetest voice…

“Excuse me” was all I could muster up to say in response.

“Yes, I will go to dinner with you. Pick me up at 8. I’ll give you directions to my place.”

To be continued….

Part 3 finale will be posted Wednesday May 22, 2013!

It’s been a year!

It’s been a year since I’ve seen the inside of a classroom (as a student), heard a professor announce another group project, and spent endless hours in the library studying for that next big exam. My undergrad experience has been over for a little over 365 days and really nothing has changed.

When I was in college I spent quality time imaging my life after college, how I would take the time to find myself and my real passions. Don’t get me wrong, I did find myself. I now know what I enjoy doing and what I need to do to better my life financially and spiritually. I enjoy writing! I love the way an empty sheet of paper can bring about countless thoughts. Some expressive, some narrative, and even one play. I have a passion for interviewing. Most people don’t know I’m doing it because I’m naturally inquisitive, always looking for the latest scoop. As some of you may know I’ve been freelancing for about a year now with an online magazine. I don’t get paid for my efforts, but I understand the magazine is relatively new and doesn’t have a broad readership yet. In the mean time I’ve been gaining experience, passionately pursuing an olive branch to be extended to me from my dream company Time Warner.

Although I found a “j-o-b” one month after college, I found that my efforts there were not how I pictured my life going. I knew I could never have the courage to resign myself so I was quite relived when I was ultimately replaced three months after I arrived. I took my joblessness as a blessing in disguise. Of course I was sad at first, but I quickly moved on. After a month of job searching and going on several interviews in Tampa and Fort Lauderdale, I chose to apply to a placed that I’ve worked before, retail. During my college career I worked at Macy’s as a sales associate. I had a lot of fun talking to people and providing exceptional customer service. So I applied to work there again. About two weeks later I received a call from Human Resources regarding my application and was asked to go in for an interview. I was offered a job on the spot, not as a Sales Associate, but as Support. Most days I felt like my job was mindless and simplistic, but I’ve never been the type to feel like something was beneath me. I knew God was working for me so I went to work every day with a smile. During my time there I became friends with some coworkers and learned a valuable lesson about workplace politics.

In October it was suggested to me that I should become a Substitute teacher. I never thought of that option before. As I researched the requirements I needed to apply, I felt a sense of anxiety and fear. How can I, a recent student myself, be in charge of a large group of children. Will they respect me? Will I be a good sub? What will I wear?
I waited a long time before I received a call from the county because of the long waiting list in Hillsborough. I had to wait till January to be trained in the art of child molding. The first day of training I woke up with a stomach ache. I thought it was just nerves, but turns out it was a stomach virus. So near the brink of death, I sat and held back the urge to hurl and do something else unmentionable for eight hours. I think I held it together because I was sitting across from this very cute guy with really nice teeth, but to be honest that was really one of the worst days of my life.

I have been subbing for three months and a half and I actually like it. I don’t have to stand on my feet all day and if I have a good group of kids I barely have to talk. Elementary schools are my go to places. At first I thought I would prefer high school, but I quickly changed my mind after going to a middle school. I have yet to go to a high school and I want to keep it that way. I prefer 4th and 5th graders. They are old enough to be quiet for longer periods of time. I actually wrote this while watching a class. They were busy working on a packet that their teacher left for them.

During my time as a sub I have had the time to start a business (Seneque Media Consulting), figure out that I do want to go back to school ( Jan. 2014!), and that I enjoy working with adults rather than children. My dream of becoming the Marketing Director for People Magazine has not been crushed by the constant no from perspective employers, but has been enhanced by my constant drive to be in the publishing industry.

What I’ve Learned in The Past Year
1. Don’t Stress! Family will always be there to catch you when you fall.
2. Make true friends. Friends who become like family will always have your back.
3. Boys will be boys so “find” a real man. That “special” person will come in God’s time, so I will focus on me. I can flirt in the mean time.
4. Money will come and go.
5. God always has a plan.
6. Maturing kind of sucks.

This is my post graduation blues.
